Pearl Export 2001 drum shells--what kind of wood?

I have a 2001 pearl export series drum set. Can you tell me what kind of wood the shells are made of?

The 2001 Pearl catalog lists mahogany as the wood used in Pearl Export drums. The newer Pearl drums are poplar and Asian mahogany blends per the 2018 catalog
