Jam session

How does someone play along in a jam session that doesn’t know the song, I play with a group and there are some that don’t know the song all is said is the key it is in. Thanks for your help and information. Ron.

Hi, Ron--You can just choose a scale in that key and play fills using that scale. Try different scales for different effects.

You can also "read" the bass players (or any player's) hands for the chords.

You can ask for the chord progression. There are only seven chords in a major key . Please see:
