Guitar Slide Tuning
What is an "open guitar tuning"? Simply put, it is a tuning of the guitar so that the strings form a chord without fretting any notes.Open tunings are the main method of tuning for playing slide guitar.
Here are some common open tunings:
OPEN "D" TUNING
D A D F# A D
This tuning is probably the most popular open tuning.
Tuning Tip: * Tune your sixth string down a tone to D by playing the fourth string and matching the 6th string to it.
* Tune your third string down a semitone to F#. Check the tuning with the fourth fret of your fourth string.
* Tune your second string down a tone to A. Check the tuning with the fifth (A) string.
* Tune your first string down a tone to D. Check the tuning with the fourth (D) string.

This is another very popular open tuning.
Tuning Tip: * Tune your sixth string down a tone to D by playing the fourth string and matching the 6th string to it.
* Then tune your fifth string down a tone to G. Check the tuning with the third (G) string.
* Tune your first string down a tone to D. Check the tuning with the fourth (D) string.
