"Flat on the Floor" is from the 2007 Album "Carnival Ride". It is one of two cover songs on the album. This song was originally recorded by Katrina Elam and was a country hit for her. It was written by Ashley Monroe and Brett James.

About The Drummer

Matt Chamberlain has bee a drummer since he was ten years old. He grew up in California and studied with David Garibaldi (Tower of Power). He claims John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Neil Peart, and Terry Bozzio as his major influences.

Matt is a well known session drummer. Some of the groups and artists he has worked with include
Peter Gabriel, The Wallflowers, Fiona Apple. Elton John and David Bowie.

About This Tab

This song is a combination of 4/4 and 3/4 time. The structure of the drum part on the verses is
quite interesting, as there is a measure with only Toms, Bass, and Snare followed by a more traditional beat using the Ride cymbal.

The Bridge has a disco feel with the open Hi Hat on the offbeats.

Eight note triplets on the Bass and Crash cymbal begin the Outro, followed by a "killer" mini drum solo at the end.
