I have a problem with 1 of my guitars, it's an sg copy custom with the 3 pick ups. The problem is when i use it for a lead break it tends to scream uncontrollably. I use various different guitars through the same equipment with no problems at all. Do you think this is down to cheap pick ups, or could it be something else? Thanks Rick.
ANSWER
Hi, Rick--
If the feedback is microphonic (a high squeal or whistling sound similar to the sound made by a microphone feeding back), you can try potting the pickup.
Potting involves sealing the pickup so that the parts of the pickup are unable to move in relation to each other.
You can find out more about potting by doing a Google search for "potting guitar pick ups".
